Job Description

The Royal Air Force is currently seeking high-caliber Engineering and Medical professionals to drive our “Next Gen” strategy. In 2026, the RAF has overhauled its recruitment packages to provide a competitive alternative to the private sector. These aren’t just jobs; they are leadership roles at the frontier of high-tech maintenance and rapid-response healthcare.

Whether you are managing the structural integrity of an F-35 Lightning or leading an aeromedical evacuation at 30,000 feet, your expertise is the backbone of UK defense.

Positions Available

We are recruiting for four primary specialist pathways:

1. Aerosystems Engineer Officer
The Role: You act as the “Chief Engineer,” managing the airworthiness and structural mechanical integrity of the RAF’s fleet (including Typhoon and F-35 jets).
Salary: £34,600 (Training) → £46,000–£50,500 (Flight Lieutenant).

2. Communications-Electronics Engineer Officer
The Role: Manage the RAF’s “Digital Backbone.” You are responsible for RADAR, satellite comms, and cyber defense within the Space Command operations.
Salary: Competitive Officer scales (similar to Aerosystems).

3. Medical Assistant (Aviator/Trade)
The Role: The front-line combat medic. You provide base-level primary care and emergency pre-hospital care during critical evacuations.
Salary: Starting at £26,300+.

4. Nursing Officer
The Role: Leading aeromedical teams and managing patient care in flight and within MOD Hospital Units.
Salary: Up to £44,300 (starting rank depends on experience).

Special Sponsorship (DSUS)

If you are currently a student, the Defence STEM Undergraduate Sponsorship offers up to £4,000 per year plus a bursary while you study, provided you join us upon graduation.
